What other families have said

We understand that choosing a funeral service provider is a deeply personal decision, often made during a time of grief and vulnerability.

At Childers Woodgate Funeral Services, we are committed to providing compassionate and professional service to support families through this difficult time.

We invite you to read testimonials from families who have entrusted us with the care of their loved ones, and we hope their experiences will offer insight and comfort as you consider your options.

Five Star Service

“Everyone was extremely caring and efficient, always accessible for help and guidance. I could not have gotten through an extremely difficult time without the staff. Every request was met with kind consideration and assistance, before, during and after the funeral and cremation. Even in the week following with phone calls to check on my Dad and the family. I would highly recommend this service to everyone.” W

Thank You from the Scott Family

Fred and Shirley have been the most accommodating, compassionate yet incredibly professional people to have walking beside us in this time of loss. Light and refreshing when needed and yet down to earth and serious when it mattered. They have made the journey bearable and stress free where they are able to and carried the load when they could. They treated Graham/Dad with dignity and respect and cared for him well when we entrusted them with his care. Whilst no-one enjoys going through this aspect of life/death, we can’t think of anyone we would rather have journeying with us at this time.

Thank You

“I would rate your services as 5 stars in all of the categories – quality, service, value. Fred had a wonderful approach to working through the funeral arrangements. His compassionate yet grounded and practical approach meant we were able to work through the immediate decisions following the loss of dad without being overwhelmed with emotion and our grief. He took all of the burden out of the immediate administration required, and helped us move through the decisions about the funeral and service smoothly. I really appreciated Fred communicating the respect and dignity with which dad would be treated when in your care. It was also lovely that you knew dad. Your use of technology made it really easy to exchange and prepare material for the service, particularly as we had contributions from multiple sources due to the travel restrictions and people being unable to be there in person. And you were very supportive and accommodating as we pulled this together. Communication and attention to detail from the staff was wonderful throughout, and the design of the service sheet was lovely. We really felt confident that we were in good hands with you all. On the day, the set up at the graveside was excellent, the presentation of staff was excellent, and the conduct of the service faultless. The parts of the service not written / chosen by us were very appropriate and fitting. The live streaming process was excellent – the link was easy to share and worked seamlessly, and we had lots of comments afterwards about the excellent quality of the streaming. It was so important for us to have access to this option given the wide distribution of dad’s family and friends and inability to travel, and it was very touching and supportive for our family to get lots of messages from people who joined on online.” Anon

Our Heartfelt Thanks

The compassion, the personal touch that makes it feel like you are not just a number.  Fred and his team went above and beyond to give us the goodbyes and farewell that we needed for closure.  To give my husband , our three girls and their children what was taken away from us.  The professionalism and care shown at all times -before, during and after – was impeccable.  Marie

“I found Fred sincere and down to earth with compassion. Although grieving, I felt comfortable and for him to bring the ashes back to me at home was just right. I have recommended your services to my friends. I had to smile the day the bright yellow van arrived – here was my darling home at last in such brightness, reminding me of sunflowers.” Thanks R

“A sincere thanks to Fred, Shirley and Ellie for your compassion, caring and professional manner when you organized my late Mother’s funeral. Your attention to detail; nothing was too much trouble and everything was done in a dignified way. God bless you all.”

M from Eidsvold

“Everything about the funeral that was handled by you was really beautifully done. The bush flowers on the coffin were exquisite, the coffin was very appropriate, the booklet was perfect and everything went very very well in the service. The first song started with a bit of a hiccup but it was fixed very quickly and gave everything a light hearted approach. ‘K’ always said that nothing for him ever went completely right as there was always a little something that had to be fixed or sorted so it seemed very appropriate for him and he would have thought so too if he was there?? Many people commented that it was a truly beautiful service which was a huge compliment to you, the minister and my son in law who did an excellent job on the eulogy. They especially enjoyed the music and poem as it was so appropriate. I really can’t thank you both and your helpers enough for making the day special and just so like he wanted. I will certainly recommend your services if anyone asks about you as the whole family and I could not speak more highly of your services.”

Val and Family

“Everything from the midnight visit following Danny’s passing right through all steps up to and including the graveside service was handled with understanding and compassion. You should be commended on your level of service and proud of your business and staff.”

The Hunter Family

“You have done a wonderful job. I can only say thank you all for a superb job you have done for us. Noel was so peaceful in his coffin. He knew, as we did, you would do everything in your power to let him rest easy.”

Tom

“The information sought, advice given and courtesy at all times was much appreciated, especially when dealing with local issues from a distance (by phone). Efforts to gain special aspects such as didgeridoo and trumpet music was much appreciated. It was good that all parts of the funeral were included in your one service, so there was one payment by you. Thank you on behalf of all of Lena’s family and friends.”

Sue

“Each part of the process was explained and understood. Done with dignity for the deceased as well as the living. The service at the graveside was all I could have asked for and the clarity of speech of the service, I couldn’t have asked for better. Well done and thank you. Graham went with dignity.”

Dowling Family

“Prompt reply from initial contact to arrange appointment to make arrangements. Professional manner overall from all staff involved during the whole process. The funeral service provided by Fred with the support of the staff was second to none. We highly recommend this business to other people.”

“After travelling from Queanbeyan in New South Wales, there was only one day to finalize arrangements for my sister’s funeral. Shirley was very helpful in helping us select a coffin, she confirmed all the arrangements for the following day – flowers, order of service. The funeral went very smoothly with chairs and shade provided. We would highly recommend Childers Woodgate Funeral Services.”

Voss Family

“We were treated with respect and sympathy. We felt very relaxed in the knowledge that we were given time to make appropriate decisions regarding Stan’s funeral arrangements.”

Rod

“Our experience with Fred and Shirley is tops. In 2010-11, my Mother passed away during the floods and Fred pulled out all stops to have Mum safely buried. Just before Christmas 2016, our Father passed away, and again, Fred and Shirley were there again to organize Dad’s Funeral, which was around the Christmas holiday period. All costs of the funeral were discussed upfront. Thanks Fred and Shirley for an excellent service.”

Pam and family

“The way everything was carried out at Mum’s funeral was perfect. No-one else could have done any better. I know Mum would have loved it all, right down to the two doves which I know you went to great lengths to find for Dad’s funeral. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Just keep doing what you are doing.”

Beryl

“From the first phone call to Fred, he assured us we didn’t have to worry about anything and then his visit to our home everything was taken care of from the transportation of the body, a beautiful service delivered by Shirley, music, programs, CD images, flowers and catering of food. It was so much more satisfying dealing with local people you know and wouldn’t have changed anything.”

McLaughlin Family, Gayndah

“Childers Woodgate Funeral Services provided exceptional service to our family at our time of need. Fred and Shirley and their staff were dedicated, compassionate, and sensitive to our needs. They exceeded all of our expectations in terms of quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. It is such a distressing time for loved ones, and using Childers Woodgate Funeral Services went a very long way to alleviating a lot of the usual pressures on our family members. This meant we were able to focus on honouring our wife and mother, and grieve her loss, whilst Shirley and Fred took care of everything else. Our sincerest thanks to them and their staff.”

“Childers Woodgate Funeral Services provided not only a very professional, but very friendly service for our family. It was comforting to be able to trust that someone was arranging and organizing such a public occasion, when all you felt you wanted to do was retreat – yet a proud and joyous experience to commemorate someone we love.”

Kelvin

I am still telling my friends how quickly I was able to arrange the funeral service with Fred and so easy. Within a couple of hours of my brother, Hedley, dying on 30 September, Fred had arranged a service, removal of the body and refreshments after the service at 10 am on 1 October at Gunther Village Nursing Home, Gayndah, with the approval of the Manager, Bruce. A special thanks to Gaye Tyler as well.
